SET APART

SET APART FOR GOD

What does mean?

To Set APART?

What is a set apart?

What does it mean to be set apart in the Bible?

To take something, or a person out from others or group

To set apart simply means to separate or isolate something. In the Bible, it means to designate or separate something for a particular use.

The literal meanings of set apart and set aside are the same. However, the connotations (implied meanings) can be either the same or opposites.

  • A thing is set apart for a particular use.
  • A thing is set aside to keep it from the current action.
  • A thing can be set aside to keep it from the current action and reserve it for a later purpose. In this usage, the meaning is the same as for set apart, although set aside implies more about the timeline.

The terms translated set apart can also be translated consecrate, make holy, prepare, sanctify, purify, dedicate, reserve for destruction, and numerous variations (for example: make holy, keep holy, declare holy, prove to be holy, regard as holy, dedicate, and foreordain). Which meaningdepends on the context and the translator’s interpretation of the contextual meaning.

For a general example, the implements in the tabernacle were set apart for holy use, not to be defiled by ordinary, outside use. This was a symbol of God’s holiness and of the holiness He desires of His people. An extreme example of violating that happened during Babylon’s reign over Israel, when Babylon’s king and his guests used cups looted from Israel’s temple for drinking at a banquet (Daniel 5:3).

Set apart is a verbal phrase, a paired verb and preposition that act as a single word. It is usually translated from a single Hebrew or Greek word in the Bible.

Many answers focus on a single application of the term set apart, whereas others draw far more out of the term that what it actually implies. It does have multiple applications, but the meaning varies with the context. Here are some examples:

  • Genesis 21:29, Abimelech said to Abraham, “What do these seven ewe lambs mean, which you have set by themselves?” — Although Abimelech suspects that there’s a purpose, the focus is on the physical separation of seven lambs from the flock. Compare Genesis 30:40.
  • Deuteronomy 10:8, At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to serve Him and to bless in His name until this day. — Here, the LORD (“YHWH,” or “I AM”) assigned specific priestly duties to one of the twelve tribes of Israel.
  • Joshua 20:7, So they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali and Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah. — Read this in context. The cities were designated as cities of refuge. In those days, there was no police force and court system; if somebody killed your brother, you had to execute justice yourself or convince somebody to do it for you. In questionable cases (such as accidental manslaughter), the cities of refuge protected the accused until questions of guilt could be resolved.
  • Deuteronomy 15:19, You shall consecrate (set apart) to the LORD your God all the firstborn males that are born of your herd and of your flock; you shall not work with the firstborn of your herd, nor shear the firstborn of your flock. (compare Numbers 3:13.) — As Creator, and source of all blessings, God commanded Israel to devote to Him the first part of any production, whether children, flocks, or produce. First-born children were to be reared to lead their families spiritually, and the first tenth (“tithe”) of profit from work was to be given to God to support religious work. Compare also 1 Corinthians 16:2.
  • Psalm 88:5, Adrift (“set apart”) among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave…. — “Adrift,” used by the KJV, is more literal than “set apart” in the NIV or “forsaken” in NASB. ESV’s “set loose” conveys the most connotation most accurately. Psalm 88 is a lamentation of one undergoing severe trial and despair, and he feels purposeless, set apart for treatment as though already dead.
  • Acts 13:2–5, While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, when they (the leaders of the church at Antioch) had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away…. When they reached Salamis, they began proclaiming the word of God…. — The leaders of the church designated and commissioned Barnabas and Saul (Paul) to do missionary work.
  • Galatians 1:15–16, But when God, who had set me apart even from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles… — Paul claims that God fore-ordained him to put faith in Christ and carry the gospel to the the world outside of Israel. This comes close to claiming predestination but is not that specific. In John 10:36, Jesus similarly claims that the Father commissioned Him for the role He fulfilled during His incarnation.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:11, Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. — The Weymouth translation renders sanctified as “set apart as holy.”

If you want to trace every usage of the term, you need to set aside a few days, list all its various translations, and search for each one. I would expect you to find hundreds of verses.

From the few dozen occurrences I just read, I noticed a trend. When “set apart” implies a change in a person, it is a change that applies to every believer, not just to a select few holier-than-thou ministers. In contrast, “set apart” can apply to specific people when it implies being assigned a task, duty, or mission.

Although Paul recommended singleness in certain circumstances (Paul traveled constantly and was under constant threat of assassination or execution), nowhere does scripture require anyone to set themselves apart for singleness for any office in the church. In fact, Peter and most of the apostles were married, and Paul recommends marriage for anyone, including ministers, who feel weak regarding sexual temptation.

Words translated set apart have a wide variety of possible translations and meanings. The term is sometimes literal, sometimes figurative. It can imply a mere physical act, a declaration, or a foreordination. It is wise to look to the context for meaning and even more wise not to lock yourself into any given meaning.

GOD’S. OWN WORDS

8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

From the words of God in the two verses above, believers you will see and know that the everlasting God had warned us all that He doesn’t want to share His glory with any other thing, whether mankind or other creatures on earth or in heaven, Our creator God had made this decree even before He created the heaven and the earth. This decree is not something that believers should take lightly or ignore or abolish or refuse to do it. God’s feasts, Sabbath, Commandments and New year are the decrees that makes believers a “set apart “ for the unquestionable, unrivalled and unopposed maker of all things on earth and in heaven. “Set apart” is utmost in God’s hearts and believers must adhere to it without asking questions. God has spoken and who can annulled it.

God is “HE”that must be obeyed.

2030 agenda

The cost of disobedience to God

And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Set apart is very noticeable,

Acts 11. 26

26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Look at the image above, the” set apart” is very red, very distinct, special, outstanding, it’s colour is red and there is no way that it can be called grey or green or blue, once it changes colour then it is no more red, or can it say that is more red. The image can’t say oh, I am red but I can still call myself grey, or when I am in the middle of grey images I can pretend to be grey or be part of them.
We can learn from this image that once God made u a” set apart, “ you can’t become anything else, we have to do what God used to make us a” “set apart.” What are the things that the Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscience God planned, patterned and purposed to make us a “set apart? “ in truth, His feasts, Sabbaths, Commandments and His New year, these are the ways that God planned, patterned and purposed to make all the believers in Jesus Christ a “set apart “ for Himself and Himself alone. God the winner takes all. GOD WHO MUST BE OBEYED, It is not a coincidence that God the all knowing, all-seeing and all power commanded us that He wanted all the believers in Jesus Christ to be very different, peculiar, special, or saints and the only people that are completely belong and the beloved of the creator of heavens and earth. We are the nearest people to God’s heart, He engraved us in His heart forevermore. Believers are the only people that will be inside the New Jerusalem that will come down from heaven Revelation 21.1-22
“PLEASE TO EVERYONE, NO MORE RITUALS OR ORDINANCES, these, Christ had nailed to the cross forevermore”

Revelation 21.1- end.

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life

God from Genesis has been using His methods of a “set apart “ for His chosen people, things that are close to His heart. Things and people He want only for Himself and He will not at anytime share with any other things. Seth the third son of Adam and Eve, was made a set apart, “ his lineage was the lineage of Jesus Christ.
Genesis chapter 4. 25- 26 25

And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. From Seth came the linage of Jesus Christ.
26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
Noah and his family were a “ set apart “ for God, saved them from the then bad world. He built the ark according to the pattern that God showed him, no questions asked, no hesitation, he believes every that God told him. Imagine him climbing the hill where there was no water, river, sea or ocean, yet he believed God and he can be counted as believers model of faith. As bad as the world was then, God saved them. Nosh and his household were saved from the then world and were saved because God’s wrath pass-over them. Because God made them a “set apart “
Abraham was God’s “set apart,” and told him to leave his homeland, his relatives, friends and his work, even though the bible didn’t tell us what his work was, but without question, Abraham left for he believed God and became our father of faith. And you can read how God fought for Abraham all through his life. Isaac was a “set apart “ and all through the bible, God din’t only fought for him but cared for him as well all through his lifetime.
Jacob was a God “set apart, “ with his record of wrongdoings, according to our own imagination, if it is left for human beings, he will spend his life in the maximum prison with the keys of his cell thrown in the sea never to be found. But God being God, for His plans, patterns and purposes, did not act like human beings.

Isaiah 55. 8-11

8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God had made him a ruler over his senior brother, even from his mother’s womb. From him came the twelve tribes of Israel who Supplanted in his mother’s womb. But God Himself changed Jacob to Israel, Father of many. Out of the twelve tribes of Israel came Judah whose tribe God made a “set apart” Why is God the creator of all things so particular about these two words SET APART? Yes I can tell you what God told me. First, this method of God making something a “set apart “ started in the book of Genesis, also in Exodus 30. 34- 38
The Israelis were a “set apart” from the Egyptians for God served “ set apart” them from the time that they came from Canaan to Egypt and lived there for 430 years. Even during the Ten plaques of Egypt that almost destroyed the Egyptians.

Everything that has to do with the Tabernacle were “set apart” for God, even all the workers in the Tabernacle.

34 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight:
35 And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy:
36 And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy. “SET APART”

37 And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves according to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy “SET APART” for the LORD.
38 Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people.

Christians are called to be “set apart” from this world of wickedness, selflessness, corruption, self glorifying and all the evils that one can think off, however we are not the first people to be called “SET APART” in this world. As we journey through you will begin to understand what set apart means, who is set apart, and how being set apart affects your daily living a worthy live that will make the Almighty God pleased when we walked according to His will. Throughout this bible study we will add history in blue to coincide with this bible study. We will begin with history through the Word of God of who was selected to be called:
Genesis 12:2-3 and Genesis 18:18-19 In Genesis God called Abraham to be “set apart” from his family, friends, and where he lived. At that moment he had a choice to make to either ignore the calling or accept the calling. What did Abraham do, he chose to obey the call of God. When he chose to obey God that made him a “Set apart “ not just physically from everyone, but mentally, emotionally and in his actions.

Why did God call Abraham?

Who knows, but the most important part of this is he was called. In scripture it says that many are called but few are chosen ( Matthew 22:14 ). So, Abraham accepted the calling and did what God asked him to do. We will see what happens further down.

What Does It Mean To Be “Set Apart?”

All the “SET APART “ are marked out

To be “set apart” means = to keep or save (something), someone, things, country, places for a particular purpose and to be a quality that makes (someone or something) better than or different from other people or things. Israel is a set apart for God and God alone. You can see this all through the entire bible. Anytime that they go out of the plans, patterns and the purposes of God, He give them the punishment thy they deserve. He told them that Ha will not share them with anyone. He made them unique, special, peculiar, severed them from the Egyptians and all the horrible plagues that came upon the disobedient Pharaoh and his people. Because of Israel God’s “set apart,” the Red Sea was divided into two by the power of God in other that they could walk through as a dry wall and even be walls for them. He discomforted Pharaoh and his people in very despicable way, first God removed the wheel of their wagons before they even had chance to enter the Red Sea then finally God made the parted water to over flow and the enemies of Israel drowned and perished forevermore.
OH if only the believers in Jesus Christ understand what God’s “set apart” is and meant to God, how that God Almighty, creator of heavens and earth had engraved all believers names in the heart – God, who came to the world in the person of Jesus Christ, who gave Himself a name EMMANUEL, God with Us.
As Jesus Christ He suffered the most horrific beatings, was a “set apart”was crowned with thorns, was stripped of any dignity, He carried the heaviest load in the world, what was the load? your sins and my sins. Jesus Christ who knows no sin became our sins carrier. Oh what a deed, oh what love, love love that has no boundaries, such love that He gave to all believers in Him free so that we can enjoy paradise in the new Jerusalem as the children of the Most High God for eternity. He had prepaid for us paradise. He made us to be co-heirs in His Kingdom for eternity. Ah! Ah! Ah! believers whom He had made a “Set apart” before He put us in our mothers womb and before the foundation of the world. Who had planned, patterned and purposed that we are for Him and Him alone. Jesus Christ gave us believers glory and washed us in His own blood that He shed on the cross where He bled to death that we might be saved from the Claws, deceitfulness, manipulative and wickedness of Satan.
What will make this Jesus Happy who bought us believers with His life which is His blood, Genesis 9.4
4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.
6 Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man
He gave us believers His feasts days, His Sabbath, Commandments and New year for us His set apart. He served us for Himself alone, Yet almost all believers rejected this commandments of God.
We believers obeyed the feats of the world and knowingly abandoned the things of God
How can we say we love Jesus Christ when we ignore the the feats days and others

Why has God “set apart” Christians?

“Jesus Christ’s own words John” 17.-22

8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19 And for their sakes I sanctify ( “SET. APART)myself, that they also might be sanctified ( SET. APART”) through the truth.
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

He does have a very specific purpose for the church, which is made up of both Jew and Gentile.
1 Peter 2:9-10 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light. 10 Once you were not a people [at all], but now you are God’s people; once you were unpitied, but now you are pitied and have received mercy.
The church has been “set apart” to be holy as God is holy and to tell the world that God through Jesus Christ called them out of darkness into His marvelous light. As a Christian I am “set apart” to show the great and marvelous love God has for us and to live a life that is holy before God. This means living a life that is not conformed to the ways of this world. In celebrating of God’s commandments, Sabbath, New year as we believers are set apart for God and God alone. He doesn’t want to share His glory with any other, Isaiah 42.8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven image-
The good news is, God made the kingdom of heaven extended to “whosoever will” believe in Jesus Christ in their heart to save them from their sins. This means you and I. You through faith in Jesus Christ will also be given understanding and wisdom of God’s word. You do not have to be on the outside looking in (God’s Kingdom). Know that all believers in Jesus Christ were at one time on the outside, Ephesians 2.
Abraham chose to be a set apart. So what does this mean, In scripture it says Deuteronomy 7:6-9 For you are a holy and “set-apart “ people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a special people to Himself out of all the people’s on the face of the earth. 7 The Lord did not set His love upon you and choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the fewest of all people. 8 But because the Lord loves you and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn to your fathers…..

Who Is Set Apart

Just like Abraham, it is important for every Christian to know God who called us to be “set apart” from the ways, thoughts and attitudes of the world. This means every Christian who is called by God through His Son to receive Salvation is to live their lives in such a way that others see and know they are not mixing with the world, Romans 12:1-2. Once someone receives Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, they are “set apart “ from the world and unto God and are bound by their total obedience to God, who had from the foundation of the world gave them His feasts days, Sabbath, Commandments and His New year to be a complete sign of a set apart from the world to God and God alone.
If only believers in Jesus Christ know the depth and the love that God bestowed upon us by giving us His commandments, feasts, Sabbath and new year as a sign of “set apart” from the world , we will not hesitate to do all the things that God commanded us to do for His name sake. All these commandments do not need rituals at all. Though they started with ordinances in those days because the true Passover had not come. But after the real Passover lamb was slaughtered and shed His precious blood for us as remission of our sins and died on the cross, there and then all rituals and animal ordinances was crucified. The feasts days, Sabbath, Commandments and the new year are still signs of God to make us a “set apart” in total obedience to God who would not want to share us with the world until Jesus Christ comes
1 Peter 1:2, 15-16
The expectation God has of those chosen is they be holy. Why, because God is holy. How are Christians holy, by the Holy Spirit. The holy standard of behavior God commands of believers is offensive to the unholy nature of man and living by these standards of God makes Christians a hated target in the world.
John 15:16-21
Jesus tells His disciples, you didn’t choose Me, I chose you. What is the purpose of a disciple of Christ? It is to bear fruit and keep bearing fruit. The prayer of a disciple of Jesus Christ is prayer that represents the character of God. Praying scripture is the truest prayer, not my will Lord, but Your will guiding my life. The life of a Christian is lived according to a different set of values and morals which sets us apart from the world.
Abraham’s acceptance of God’s calling not only changed his life but the life of his descendants and the world. Can you imagine if he did not accept this calling? Today God has put Israel on hold, so to speak, and for now the focus is on His church, meaning, each believer in Jesus Christ is set apart by and for God. Israel was first to be” set apart” but interwoven in His Word is the promise of salvation to the Gentiles. When Jesus, God in flesh, came from heaven the Jews had no idea that through Him they and the Gentiles would one day be one body.

Why did God choose Israel? ( SET APART )

Deuteronomy 7:6-9 and 1 Chronicles 17:22
God chose them because He loves them and to keep the covenant He made with Abraham. What we know from this is God is faithful to His Word and He loves because He is love. Notice God did not choose them for their greatness or anything they could offer Him.
Recap – the who, is Christians (which make up the church), who are now the believing Jews and Gentiles.
How Is Being “Set Apart “ Affect You
Now is the time to see and believe the world truly hates True Christianity! BAM was that nicely put lol!
The world is becoming increasingly a place of accepted immorality and violence is hitting every area. The news headline confirms this and conveys evil is now good and good is now evil.
The biblical God, Christ Jesus, and Holy Spirit are being blurred into the world. The world, worldly Christians, and false Christians are wanting Jesus to be a man only, because of this the deity of Jesus Christ is mocked and at every turn the brunt of jokes. In today’s world of cultural Christianity and good ole boy Jesus, true Christians will need a solid foundation of understanding – I have been set apart.
Being “set apart” you will be persecuted because the world has no affection or love for Jesus Christ. Christians who are set apart do not belong to this world, they belong to Jesus Christ. Just as Jesus was and is hated by the world, so is a Christian when their life exhibits His character. As Christians refuse to agree with the world (who denies Jesus is the living Son of God and God in the flesh) they become targets of the world who purposely look for those who are set apart to act out this hatred (by arresting, prosecuting, and killing them to silence them). When you are set apart, though it is the world acting out hostility, you have a real enemy who instigates the hatred of the world towards you.
Abraham’s descendants became the nation of Israel, and those in Christ are the seed of Abraham and share in the blessings of Abraham all because he chose to be “set apart.”

This mystery of salvation for the Gentiles was revealed through Jesus Christ. Gentiles are now heirs with Jews (Ephesians 3:3-6). This had been hidden from all past generations (2 Peter 1:21).

The Jews knew to look for their Messiah but they believed it was to defeat the Romans, set them free, and set up God’s kingdom, not to bring equality between them and Gentiles.

Set apart

What had God told them?

Isaiah 42:6 God says the Messiah will come as a covenant to Israel and a Light to the Gentile nations. There was no detailed description as to how this would happen, so the Jews filled in the details, and history keeps repeating itself even today. There are still things no one understands and the same thing is done, man’s reasoning is added to scripture.

The Jews believed their being given the law by Moses and Abraham being their father is what set them apart. But Jesus, Who is God, came and began to say it is time for change (this is now).

Jesus voiced this by saying “I have come to seek and save the lost”. He read from Isaiah which says “The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed (who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down )…”

Jesus told a parable about two men coming to pray. One came and gave himself a glowing review of how good he is and does everything right. The other would not even look up to heaven but could only cry out to God about his sinfulness. Jesus said, this person was justified before God. Jesus Is saying God is looking at what motivates the outward actions, but they did not recognize Him or hear Him because He did not fit their mould A Christian who seeks God with ALL their heart and mind will be shown the Truth according to God. For a disciple of Jesus Christ this is the greatest knowledge and wisdom to be possessed.

SET APART

Jesus spoke differently to those set apart. To crowds He spoke in parables (Matthew 13:35 with Psalm 78:2) and His disciples ask Him why (Matthew 13:3, 10-11, 34-36). Jesus answered, because the secrets of the kingdom of heaven are for the Disciples of Christ (those set apart).
Those who have not received Christ as Lord and Savior read the bible and hear God’s Word spoken but because of their rejection of Jesus as God they do not understand the heavenly application. They will have shallow or worldly understanding and apply God’s Word as rules and religious rituals but there will be the absence of true understanding.
Who Hates Those “Set Apart”

When you accept the call of God you have declared war on the kingdom of darkness. You will now struggle with Satan who is your enemy, Ephesians 6:12.
I will be god – Satan says!
Isaiah 14:13-15
Satan was determined he would dethrone God and he would be god. Satan still has that goal today even though God defeated him. For the time being God has given him rule over the kingdoms of this world, however his time is short.
Satan has one goal for everyone, even those who worship him and that is to steal, kill, and destroy them. Jesus has one goal, to give eternal life to the lost, John 10:10. When the Son of God came from heaven to earth, Satan believed he could steal His character, kill His body, and destroy His power. Crucifying Jesus was his opportunity to achieve this, so Satan thought, 1 Corinthians 2:6-8. Satan is a real enemy who plays mind games but Christians have the mind of Christ and they are to surrender all thoughts to His authority and He will bring them into obedience, 2 Corinthians 10:2-5. Satan wars against true believers because Christ is in them and they live in Christ Jesus. This makes the Spirit filled believer an absolute threat to the kingdom of darkness.
John 14:30 I will not talk with you much more, for the prince (evil genius, ruler) of the world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. [He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me.]
Satan has no claim on Jesus. Jesus is life and Satan is death. Satan and Jesus have nothing in common. Jesus is without sin and Satan loves sin. Satan has no power over Jesus Christ, this means Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection have destroyed the power of death and sin. Those who live in Christ Jesus know they have eternal life in heaven. Christians no longer have sin and death in common with Satan.
Why Is It Important To Study And Know God, His Son, His Will And Purpose?
The world is becoming darker and your Light will shine bright and reveal the Rock upon which you stand. This Foundation will offend the world and it will eventually deny you the right to live peacefully in your faith. The ruler of darkness will come to steal your joy in Christ Jesus, kill your faith in Him and destroy you and your family. Jesus said “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world for you, John 16:33.
What Does My Being “Set Apart” Give Me?

1 Corinthians 2:9 But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed].
2 Corinthians 12:4 Was caught up into paradise, and he heard utterances beyond the power of man to put into words, which man is not permitted to utter.
Things I have not yet heard nor seen.

25 Important Bible Verses About Being “Set Apart”
He satisfied the wrath of God. We must have a change of mind about who Jesus is and what was done for us. This will lead to a change of lifestyle.

The sanctification process is when God works in His children’s life to make them more like Christ until the end. Christians are a new creation through Christ, our old life is gone.

We can’t go back to when we used to live in sexual sin, drunkenness, wild parties, and anything that goes against the Bible. We don’t live for man, we live to do God’s will.

Being set apart from the world doesn’t mean we can’t have fun, but we are not to indulge in the sinful activities of this world. Christians are not to go clubbing.

We are not to indulge in things that are contrary to the Word of God, like the fake Christians of this world who live like unbelievers.

The world likes to smoke weed, we shouldn’t like to smoke weed. The world is infatuated with materialism while others are in need. We don’t live like this. Christians don’t live in sin and things the Bible doesn’t condone.

Let your light shine before others. God has chosen you out of the world to show His glory in you. You’re in the world, but don’t be part of the world. Don’t follow the world’s desires and live like unbelievers, but walk like Jesus our Lord and Savior. Our holiness comes from Christ.

In Him we are holy. We must allow our lives to reflect our appreciation and love for the great price that was paid for us on the cross of Jesus Christ. God desires an intimate relationship with us.

Not only should we make ourselves a “set apart” by our lifestyle, but we should make ourselves a “Set apart” by getting away to be alone with God in prayer.

Quotes

“He that chooses God, devotes himself to God as the vessels of the sanctuary were consecrated and “set apart” from common to holy uses, so he that has chosen God to be his God, has dedicated himself to God, and will no more be devoted to profane uses.” Thomas Watson
“A soul disengaged from the world is a heavenly one; and then are we ready for heaven when our heart is there before us.” John Newton
“That cross has separated me from the world that crucified my Lord, just as much as if His body were now on the cross, marred and wounded by the world.” G.V. Wigram

What does the Bible say?

1. 1 Peter 2:9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

2. Deuteronomy 14:2 You have been “set apart” as holy to the LORD your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.

3. Revelation 18:4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say: Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues.

4. Psalm 4:3 You can be sure of this: The LORD set apart the godly for himself. The LORD will answer when I call to him.

5. 1 John 4:4-5 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them.

6. 2 Corinthians 6:17 Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.

7. 2 Corinthians 7:1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

We must conform our minds to that of Christ.

8. Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

9. Colossians 3:1-3 Since you were raised from the dead with Christ, aim at what is in heaven, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Think only about the things in heaven, not the things on earth. Your old sinful self has died, and your new life is kept with Christ in God.

Do not live for what people live for.

10. 1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him, because all that is in the world (the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the arrogance produced by material possessions) is not from the Father, but is from the world.

11. Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

We were made new through Christ.

12. Colossians 3:10 and you’ve become a new person. This new person is continually renewed in knowledge to be like its Creator.

13. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

14. Galatians 2:20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

15. Romans 6:5-6 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

16. Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Reminder

17. Matthew 10:16-17 Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves. But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and will be flogged with whips in the synagogues.

Do not follow the way of the wicked.

18. 2 Timothy 2:22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

19. Ephesians 5:11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

20. Deuteronomy 18:14 because those nations that you are about to dispossess listen to those who practice witchcraft and divination. But the Lord does not allow you to act this way.

21. Exodus 23:2 You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing. Do not testify in a lawsuit and go along with a crowd to pervert justice.

Imitate Christ

22. Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

The world will hate you because God made you a “set apart”

23. John 15:18-19 If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.

24. 1 Peter 4:4 Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you.

25. Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Set apart
John 14.21-24

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him- the “Set apart.”
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

The church of Christ founded by Jesus Christ, the head, the body, the patron, and was planed, patterned and purposed by Him, the Almighty God who came to this world by summoning Himself to be born by Mary in the manger. He demonstrated to us, His church what love is all about. By His sufferings, His torture by whom He came to save and died on the cross, shed His precious blood for the remission of our sins. He was burial and on the third day as He had predicted before the foundation of the world that He will rise from the dead which He did. He starts His church with the twelve apostles, whom He “set apart” even though one of the twelve was a traitor also predicted before the foundation of the world that Judas Iscariot whom Satan used will betray Him. The church through the power of the Holy Spirit grew to unlimited number of people by the hands of the apostles from Jerusalem to the whole world. The Churches were persecuted in so many ways known to Satan. This persecution still goes on by the so called Satan the lawless man

The facts that the Almighty God, your creator, Your redeemer, creator of heavens and earth who “SET APART” a day for you to honour Him and who made you special, peculiar, sanctified , hallowed, made holy and separated you before the foundation of the world. Who married you to Himself by the blood of Jesus Christ for eternity.
God Almighty does not want to share His believers with any other person or thing, that is why He set you apart and made you:
Holy: set apart or pure
Hallowed: set apart
Sanctified:set apart:
Severe: set apart
If you want to know the deep meaning of the another words, please read this passage from Exodus 30.22-33. God says He will not share His glory with anything man or woman Isaiah 42:8
If only we believers know the deep meaning of these two words set apart and the reason that God want His because to be separated from the world that we are in, and the love that God had for us to have come to the earth in human form as Jesus Christ, who died on the cross, shed His precious blood for the remission of our sins and had set apart us before the foundation of the world. He instituted His feasts days for us as a way of separating us from the world. When the Israelis celebrated these feast, they killed animals, why because Christ had not come to the world and died on the cross then, which brought an end to ordinances and rituals, but the feasts still continue without the killing of animals which God had determined to use as signs of a “set apart”for all believers of Jesus Christ. To show to the world that we are special, peculiar, very important to God and God alone. It is a way of telling the world that we are a set apart people of God.
When the Israelis were in Egypt, God severed ( set apart) from all the plaques that almost wiped away the Egyptians.
He even made you a “set apart” as an example in the world for His future purposes, which is fulfilled in us Christians the a “set apart” people of the Almighty God for the New Jerusalem that will come down from heaven whose light will be God. Who has twelve foundations where the names of the twelve apostles were forever engraved, it has twelve gates on which the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were permanently engraved. This is the church of Jesus Christ known as the NEW JERUSALEM where the redeemed will be for eternity in the book of revelation chapter 21.1-27. These are the things that the Almighty Lord set apart

His feasts days for believers without rituals or animal sacrifices Leviticus 23.1-44

God’s Sabbath days Exodus chapter 20

His New year, Exodus 12 & 13.

Are you a set apart by the blood of Jesus Christ?
OBEY GOD

Jesus Christ said “ If you said, If you love me, obey My commandments which were written on our hearts with God’s indelible Holy Hands.
We Christians or believers obey God’s commandments and yet denying them. Who among the true believers in Christ Jesus will go and

Exodus 2020 : 1 And God spake all these words, saying,  202 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.20 : 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.20 : 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.20 : 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;  206 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.20 : 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.20 : 8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.20 : 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:  2010 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:  2011 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.20 : 12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.20 : 13 Thou shalt not kill.20 : 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.20 : 15 Thou shalt not steal.20 : 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.20 : 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

The word of God says, if you fail in one of the commandments you have failed in all and the Ten Commandments are the words of God which are God Himself John 1.1
