ISIONS THAT GOD SHOWED ME CONCERNING THE SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH
06-08-01
The Vision
In a dream, I stood before a multitude of people dressed in white. By the Spirit of God, I told them about the seventh-day Sabbath, according to the truth found in the words of Jesus.
Exodus 20:8 says, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
And in Exodus 20:11, “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.”
These are the words of the Lord Himself. According to John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
What Is the Sabbath?
The Sabbath is a physical day of rest instituted by God in Genesis 2:1-3. He ceased from His work and blessed that day. He later gave it to the Jews as a commandment, not just for them, but for all His people who are in Christ.
In Mark 2:28, Jesus said, “The Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath.”
In Leviticus 23:3, we read, “It is the Sabbath of the Lord.”
Keeping the Sabbath is a way of honoring God. God is our rest, as declared throughout both the Old and New Testaments. His commandments, including the Sabbath, were given to set His people apart from the world that rejects His laws.
The seventh-day Sabbath is a sign between God and His church, both in the Old and New Testaments. It reminds us of deliverance from slavery, just as He delivered Israel from Egypt. God will deliver His people again.
Christ and the Sabbath
Isaiah 11:10 says, “In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious.”
Christ is that rest. On the Sabbath, He ceased from His own work to do God’s work. He said in the Gospels, “Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath days, or to do evil? To save life, or to kill?”
The Sabbath is not for idleness. It is for doing God’s will. Jesus healed and taught on the Sabbath. In Exodus 20:10 to 15, we are reminded that the Sabbath is for everyone in the household to rest, including servants and animals. We are told to remember that we were once slaves in Egypt and that God brought us out. Therefore He commanded us to keep the Sabbath.

The Sabbath Today
Christ instituted the seventh-day Sabbath, marriage, the Lord’s Supper, and the Ten Commandments. He said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” In John 14:15 and 15:10, He reminded us that abiding in His love means keeping His Father’s commandments.
God set aside one day for Himself alone. It is a day to stop our own work and focus on His—praising, worshipping, healing, evangelizing, visiting the sick and imprisoned.
The Ten Commandments are still fully relevant to the Christian church. Jesus grouped them into two:
Love God with all your heart, soul, and strength
Love your neighbor as yourself
If we say we love God and reject His commandments, where is our commitment?
Jesus and the Sabbath
Jesus said He is the Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:27). The Sabbath was made for man to do good (Mark 2:28).
He kept the Sabbath (Luke 13:10, Mark 16:18).
The apostles kept the Sabbath (Acts 17:2, Acts 16:3).
The Sabbath is for both Jews and Christians.
The Sabbath was instituted before marriage or the Lord’s Prayer.
The Change of the Sabbath
Daniel 7:25 foretold that someone would try to change God’s times and laws. This prophecy was fulfilled.
In the year AD 336, at the Council of Laodicea, the Roman Catholic Church officially transferred Sabbath observance from Saturday to Sunday. This has continued to the present day.
An Invitation
We invite you to honor the Sabbath with us. As Christians who have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, we know that Jesus is coming again. He is the Creator of everything. He is the one who gave us the Sabbath, and He is our eternal rest.
Let us obey His voice and honor His holy day.
