Jesus Christ is our spiritual rest, By the Holy Spirit of God, I take first the words of Jesus Christ in the book of Mark 2:27&28. Also in the gospel of John 17. 20 Jesus saying: Neither pray I for these alone ( the then believers in Christ) But for them ( all believers in Christ all over the world) also which shall believe on me through their ( the then believers in Christ) word.
Jesus Christ concluded” The Sabbath was made “Set apart”for the good of man(Mankind) man was not made for the Sabbath. Believers in Christ did not set apart themselves but God did for His plans, patterns and purposes.
In these words of Christ, the Sabbath is to benefit all believers in Him. By keeping or observing it, believers will benefit from it physically, and for the glory of God who had set apart those that are His own for we rest from all our hard labours of 6 days in the week, our instruments of works will rest as well as our family, all our anxiety for worldly things or whatever the means that we do our works today will take their rest mainly for the glory of God who decreed tis day and made it a set apart
Spiritually, we have the time to meditate on the words of God and hear from Him and rejoice before our creator who is our rest and had given a sign of a set apart to us for our bodies and souls.
The second part of Christ’s words verse 28; so, the son of man is lord of the Sabbath.
What does it mean that Jesus is the Lord of the sabbath? This phrase “the Lord of the sabbath you will find in Mathew 12.8 And Jesus Christ as their Lord of the sabbath, He the right, power and authority to exercise them
In Genesis 3.1-3 Then the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them,
And on the seveth day, God ended His work which He had made, and He rested( never tired but sto working physically an examples for us) on the seveth day from all His work which He had made
And blessed the seveth day, sanctified it: ( set apart) because that in it He had rested ( stop) from all His work which God created and made
