This was done before the existence of the Israel. The wrong assumptions of so-called new testament believers is that everything in the old testament are for Israel. Exodus 20.8-11, Remember the sabbath day, to keep it hot ( set apart ) six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor th cattle( whatever be your cattle today) nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.
For in six days the Lord made heaven and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed ( set apart ) it
Sabbath means “rest” Christ is our rest or rather our Spiritual, as well as our physical rest which He commanded and He himself, demonstrated it in the book of Genesis chapter 2:1-3 even before the foundation of the world and before the Israelites were in existence. The Sabbath is also a separation of God’s people from the world of wickedness, perversion, and hatred, full of man-made laws that are contrary to God’s laws of love for one another.
Christ said that though we are in the world, we are never part of her wrongdoings or events. The gospel of John 17. 16 Christ saying: They ( all believers in Christ) are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. We benefit from the Sabbath that is Christ Himself the hope f glory
The book of Hebrew 4:9 saying: As it is, however, there remained for God’s people a rest like God’s resting on the 7th day V.10 For whosoever, receives that rest which God promised will rest from his own work, just as God rested from His. Let us then do our best to receive that rest, so that no one of us will fail as they did because of their lack of faith.
