The Vision of World Rulers Tied by Strings
In this vision, I found myself in a place where names of world rulers were tied to strings and hanging down before me. Each name was written on a small wooden board and attached with red strings. I focused on reading these names closely. What struck me was that every name had two knots at the end of its string—except for the names of the Carthaginian Empire and the Roman Empire. Those two had no knots and were not tied to anything.
I didn’t hear any words from the Lord during this vision, but I stood there, motionless, for a very long time. Eventually, my spirit began to understand that these names represented the rulers of the world, ordered according to their succession in power. They were numbered from one to eight as follows:
-
Akkadian
-
Assyrian Empires
-
Kushite Empires
-
Babylonian Empires
-
Medo-Persian Empires
-
Grecian Empires
-
Carthaginian Empires
-
Roman Empires (Rome came from Carthage through Romulus and Remus)
Revelation and Understanding of Rome’s Role
When I woke, the Spirit of the Lord directed me to Revelation 17:7:
“And the angel said to me, ‘Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has seven heads and ten horns.’”
The seven heads represent the seven kings who ruled Rome, and the ten horns symbolize the ten Roman Empires.
Revelation 17:8 continues:
“The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel…”
This tells of Rome’s rise, fall, and a future attempt to regain power, though it will ultimately be destroyed by the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who marvel are the people whose names are not written in the book of life.
Revelation 17:9 explains the symbolism:
“Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.”
These are the seven hills on which Rome was built.
Revelation 17:10 clarifies:
“There are seven kings: five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he comes, he must remain a little while.”
This refers to the succession of rulers in Rome—the last being the brief, unelected king before Rome became a republic.
The Holy Spirit made these scriptures clear to me, and I have explained them here as I was commanded.
Rome as the False Prophet and the Two Beasts
Before going deeper into Rome as the false prophet according to the revelation from Jesus Christ, it’s important to revisit Revelation 13:1-4, which deals directly with Rome.
First, some crucial points about the two beasts mentioned in Revelation: verses 1-4 refer to Rome, while verses 5-18 speak about the antichrists.
Though Rome persecuted the churches of Jesus Christ, destroyed the temple, desecrated holy places, and mercilessly ruled over Israel, Rome itself was never associated with God or Christ. Rome was never a church or disciple of Jesus. It did not overcome the churches, nor did it change the seventh-day Sabbath or God’s commandments.
Rome did alter the days and months, naming them after its gods and goddesses, but it did not hand the saints over to worship on the sixth day, Sunday—that was the antichrists’ doing.
The antichrists took control over the saints in their worship practices, forcing them to worship on the sixth day, opposing God’s seventh-day Sabbath. The New Testament churches lost their way and were handed to the antichrists, as prophesied in Daniel 7:25. More on this later in the article.
The Beast Rising from the Sea: Rome’s Description
Revelation 13:1 says:
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on its horns ten crowns, and on its heads the name of blasphemy.”
This beast represents Rome, ruled by seven kings (the heads) and ten empires (the horns). The Roman emperors declared themselves gods, with priests performing rituals, some involving animal entrails.
Revelation 13:2 describes the beast’s appearance:
“The beast was like a leopard, with feet like a bear, and a mouth like a lion.”
These are symbols taken from the earlier kingdoms described in Daniel 7, showing how Rome combined traits from previous empires—Babylon (lion), Medo-Persia (bear), and Greece (leopard)—to form a brutal, dominant empire.
Daniel 7:25 warns:
“He shall speak great words against the Most High and shall wear out the saints… and think to change times and laws.”
This refers to the antichrists changing the Sabbath, dividing the commandments, and forcing worship on Sunday, the sixth day.
Revelation 13:3 says:
“I saw one of its heads wounded to death, and its deadly wound was healed.”
This is Rome’s fall and revival—the rise of the European Union, seen as the modern restoration of the Roman Empire, which has surprised the world with its economic and political power.
Revelation 13:4:
“They worshiped the dragon who gave power to the beast and worshiped the beast, saying, ‘Who is like the beast? Who can make war with it?’”
Rome persecuted the early churches and desecrated God’s temple but was seen as invincible by many.
Revelation 13:5-6:
“The beast was given a mouth to speak great things and blasphemies and was given power to continue for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.”
The Meaning of “Sea” and the Link to Carthage
In verse 13:1, the beast rises from the sea. The Bible explains that the “sea” represents peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues (Revelation 17:15). This fits with Carthage’s vast and diverse population before Rome came out of it through Romulus and Remus.
Rome, therefore, is connected to the seventh empire in succession, Carthage, which was populous and multilingual. This vision and these scriptures confirm the significant role Rome played in history and prophecy.
