Keeping the Feast with Sincerity and Truth
1. The Passover and the Blood of Christ
“Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”
The old leaven represents sin and malice. We are called to purge the old leaven so that we may be a new lump, as we are unleavened. Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed for us.
John identified the blood of Jesus Christ as the one to destroy all animal sacrifices, the Aaronic priesthood, and the rituals (John 1:29; Hebrews 10:1-39). All the spoken words of Jesus Christ are Himself and His seal upon His churches, separating them from the evil of the world until eternity.
2. Revelation and the Judgment of Evil
Revelation 20:9-10 describes the end of those who oppose God:
“And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
These verses show how God sets apart His saints. The spoken words of the Lord Jesus Christ are eternal, unchanging (John 1:1; Malachi 3:6).
3. Confession and Repentance
The New Testament churches have sinned greatly by rejecting the spoken words of the Lord. Through His grace, we now have the opportunity to repent.
We must give thanks to Jesus Christ for the graces to confess and repent, accepting His reviving of the churches through:
-
Observance of the Ten Commandments
-
Keeping the seventh-day Sabbath as a holy convocation
-
Observing the Lord’s feasts as holy convocations
-
Beginning the year with the new year He established
-
Accepting His seal upon His churches to separate them from the evil world
We must confess these sins sincerely and humbly, as commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
4. Jesus Christ: The Word and Creator
Jesus Christ is the Word from the beginning (John 1:1), the Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1-5).
-
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14)
-
His words are Spirit and life (John 6:63)
-
He gave His life as the true sacrifice, His blood representing life (Genesis 9:4)
Rejection of His first day of work, His spoken words, and the observance of His feasts separates us from His guidance and protection.
5. Rejection and Ignorance in the New Testament Churches
Many New Testament churches have mistakenly adopted the first day of the week as the day of rest, contrary to God’s original creation and His commandments.
-
They have rejected the Lord’s feasts as holy convocations
-
They have neglected the seventh-day Sabbath, which God has blessed and hallowed
-
They have ignored the beginning of the year and His seal upon His churches
Our refusal to follow these instructions aligns with the prophecy in Daniel 7:25. Yet God’s spoken words will come to pass (Isaiah 55:11).
6. The Consequences of Ignorance
Our rejection of God’s commandments and feasts has been a fatal error of ignorance. These sins and unrighteousness are of our own making, resulting from a failure to heed the warnings in the prophecies of the Lord Jesus Christ.
