5. False Patron Saints and Church Dedications

• People have turned saints, apostles, angels, and even cities into patrons of churches.

• This is wrong—only Jesus Christ is the patron of His church.

Psalm 127:1

“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.”

Christ:

• Is the Master Builder of His Church

• Gave His life for His Church

• Provides, cares, blesses, heals, prays, and intercedes for His Church

• Is the door, canopy, light, shepherd, and king of His Church

The world has wrongly taken this role and given it to others.
This all began with Linus, the first Bishop of Rome, and the line of Popes that followed. They named Christ’s churches after Rome, making many believers follow in their footsteps.

6. God’s Warning About Giving Glory to Man

Isaiah 42:8

“I am the LORD: that is my name: and My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.”

False miracle workers, preachers, and pastors exploit the Church by:

• Creating false deliverance ministries

• Selling healing oils and merchandise

• Growing rich at the expense of God and Jesus Christ

7. Biblical Healing and Pastoral Conduct (James 5:13–20)

“Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray.”
“Is any sick? Let him call for the elders of the church…”
“The prayer of faith shall save the sick…”
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another…”
“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
“He which converteth the sinner… shall save a soul from death.”

But today, pastors:

• Sell healing oil and other products

• Ignore Scripture

• Enrich themselves through spiritual exploitation

James 5:1–7 warns against this:

“Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.”
