The Ten Commandments and Divine Justice
In human courts, facts and evidence are necessary to establish the truth of a case. Similarly, in the court of God, who is love, justice, and righteousness, the truth is established through witnesses.
The Ten Commandments are supported by such witnesses and evidence:
-
Genesis 2:16-17: God commanded Adam regarding the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
-
The repeated “thou shalt” in these verses mirrors the language of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11).
God, as the Creator, gave humanity His commandments because He is a God of love, justice, and choice. The full set of Ten Commandments was later established at Mount Sinai as part of God’s perfect plan, showing His nature of completion, righteousness, and truth.
Believing that the commandments began only at Mount Sinai is a misunderstanding that contradicts God’s spoken Word. According to John 1:1, God’s Word is eternal:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
Jesus confirms the power of God’s Word:
-
John 6:63: “It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit and they are life.”
-
John 17:17: “Sanctify them through thy truth; thy Word is truth.”
-
Isaiah 55:11: God’s Word will not return void but will accomplish its purpose.
-
Malachi 3:6: “I am the Lord, I change not.”
The commandments written on the hearts of believers (both Jews and Gentiles) unite them as God’s people, as promised in Jeremiah 31:33. All believers are spiritually part of the “house of Israel” through God’s covenant blessings (see Revelation 21:12-13 and Revelation 20:9-10).
God’s Church and His Divine Plan
God established His church before the foundation of the world, long before Peter or any other apostles:
-
Matthew 16:18: “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
God’s church is guided by His commandments, Sabbath observances, and spiritual separation from the world. These laws and principles were planned and purposed before the foundation of the world, providing spiritual order and protection for believers.
Warning Against False Leaders
The Lord warns against false prophets, teachers, bishops, and self-made pastors who attain positions through education, status, or human approval rather than God’s ordination. True ministry comes by divine calling:
-
Jeremiah 1:5: “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
-
1 Kings 19:16, Deuteronomy 31:14-15, and Matthew 10:1 provide examples of God’s ordination in action.
All believers must reflect: Am I truly called by God to this ministry, or have I assumed a position by human standards?
The Fivefold Ministry
God appoints ministries according to His will, not human ambition:
-
Ephesians 4:8-12:
8. “Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.”
11. “And he gave some apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers;
12. for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
The purpose of this divine appointment is spiritual growth, ministry work, and strengthening the Church, not personal gain.
