The Vision in Revelation: Israel and the Dragon
Revelation 12:1–17
“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun… And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon…”
This vision shows Satan’s attempt to destroy God’s people from the beginning—the nation of Israel, the lineage from which Jesus Christ came.
The woman represents Israel; her child, Jesus Christ. The dragon seeks to devour the child and persecute the woman. But God protects both.
Genesis to Revelation: Israel’s Role in Redemption
From Genesis 3:15 to Revelation 21:12, Israel plays a central role in God’s redemptive plan. The twelve tribes represent God’s chosen people through whom Christ came.

Satan’s goal has always been to oppose this plan. From deceiving Adam and Eve, to working through Cain, to corrupting kings and priests, his aim is to undermine God’s commandments.
Abraham to Joseph: God’s Covenant Continues

Through Abraham came Isaac, then Jacob, whose twelve sons became the twelve tribes of Israel. Satan tried to stop this lineage through Joseph’s brothers, but God preserved Joseph and used him to save many lives.
Joseph was sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. But he rose to power in Egypt and was later reunited with his family.
Egypt and Moses: God Preserves His People
After Joseph’s death, a new Pharaoh enslaved the Israelites. Satan worked through Pharaoh to oppress them, but God raised up Moses.
Through miracles and plagues, God delivered His people and gave them His commandments at Sinai:

Jesus Christ: The Fulfillment of the Promise
